St Charles College Trust

The St Charles College Trust

Our St Charles College Trust is all about the future. We are focused on making sure we are able to survive the pandemics and storms of the future, and to fund the innovation and support that families who choose an education at St Charles College need.

All donations received will be invested to grow the trust to its target of R50 million and dividends thereafter will be dispersed to the College for two purposes:

JOLIVET LEGACY AWARD – HONOUR

A Jolivet Legacy Award is a bursary or scholarship which is offered to make it possible for boys, who ordinarily would not have access to a rigorous independent school education, to attend St Charles College. Recipients of the Jolivet Legacy Award will be offered the opportunity of a world-class education with the hope that this will enable each recipient to use this opportunity to make a difference to their life and the lives of their family and community. CHAMPAGNAT AWARD – EXCELLENCE

If you are strongly committed to Sport, Music or Academic achievement at the highest level, you will be aware that extraordinarily talented boys can make a significant difference to driving aspirations of excellence. Your contribution will ensure that families with high work ethics can prioritise a world-class education for their sons at St Charles College, and that the College, in turn, can lead the way in the highly competitive Independent Boys’ Education landscape in Africa. FIDELI CERTA MERCES AWARD – FAITHFULNESS

Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding, talented boys from around the world, but before we do a search for talented boys to strengthen the College in the Senior School, we wish to first recognise the boys and families who have been invested in the College from their earliest school days, attending our Pre-Primary, Junior Primary and Senior Primary Schools. OLD BOYS AWARD – HERITAGE

I am often asked by Old Boys that I meet: ‘How can I make a difference?’ Those with whom I have spoken, want to directly impact the lives of current and future boys. As we approach the 150th year of the College, we believe it is time to think about the future. For us as custodians of the College and its future well-being, it is our honour and responsibility to defend the College and make sure that we remain financially in reach of the families who have made a generational investment in sending their sons to the College. Other ways to get involved

MY SCHOOL CARD

The number one challenge for our 150th

If I were to be asked what one thing would make the most impact to the future security of the College, it would be energy independence. It’s the one thing that affects every single boy and family at the College, both now and in future. If you have an interest in future-proofing the College please consider this cause as the collective investment we need to make over the next 8 months.

If you ask, ‘How much will one installed solar panel (with accompanying optimal battery storage and controller system) cost?’ that is a good question, and it is being modelled currently. But, for the super enthusiasts, to start immediately, all income received from your My School cards and similar loyalty cards will be directed to purchasing solar panels. This small continuous difference that your shopping makes is a powerful collective force when we target something as important as energy independence.

Who knew that shopping could be one of the most responsible ways that you can make a direct difference to the future resilience of the College?

Swipe your MySchool, My Village, My Planet or linked Woolworths card at any of the partner stores to help grow swipes and support St Charles College.

Did you know that MySchool cards are also available from our reception desk at St Charles College?

PEOPLE BELIEVE IN ST CHARLES COLLEGE BECAUSE WE REMAIN RESOLUTE IN ADVANCING EXCELLENT AND INDEPENDENT THINKING. AFTER ALMOST ONE AND A HALF CENTURIES OF FIGHTING THE ODDS, WE CAN TESTIFY TO WHAT HARD WORK AND FAITH CAN ACHIEVE.
